Who we are
Aardstone (Aardstone Pty Ltd, ABN 37 624 991 920) makes stone benchtops at 6 Granite Place, Welshpool WA 6106. You can reach us on (08) 9258 8800.
What we collect
When you ask us for a price on our enquiry page, we collect:
- your name, phone number, email address and the address of the job;
- the details of the job: the stone, sizes, sinks, whether you want it installed or a site measure, and any notes;
- any plans or photos you upload.
We also note how you reached the page, so we can see which of our ads and links bring us work: the tags in the link you followed (such as the campaign and ad it was for), whether it was a Facebook, Instagram or Google ad, the name of the website that linked to us (not the page on it), and whether you opened it in the Facebook, Instagram or Threads app. With your enquiry we keep only whether a link came from an ad, never the tracking code Facebook and Google add to links. This note is kept with your enquiry, and only our staff see it. Like any visit to a website, the address you arrived on also sits in our hosting provider’s request logs for a few days.
To stop the page being misused, we also keep a record of your internet (IP) address with a count of how often it has used the page. It is used for nothing else. Once a record is more than a day old, it is deleted the next time someone sends us an enquiry.
If we quote your job, whether you came through this page or by phone, email or in person, we keep your details and the job in our customer records, with the quotes we send you, a record of each email or text we send you about it, and our notes of calls with you. When the link to your quote is opened, we note the date and time and which version of the quote it was for, so we know when to get back to you. To tell a person from the link checkers that email and messaging apps use, we look at your browser’s and connection’s details at that moment, but we don’t keep them, or your internet (IP) address, with that note. If you ask us to stop emailing or texting you, we keep a record of that so it sticks. When you accept a quote online, we keep the name you type, the date and time, your internet (IP) address and your browser’s details as our record that you accepted it.
Why we collect it
To price your job, quote it, and contact you about it. We don’t sell your details, and we don’t add you to a mailing list.
Your enquiry is stored securely with our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and only Aardstone’s staff can see it. To prepare and send your quote we also use a few trusted services: one that can read your plans to help measure the job, a mapping service (Google) that finds the job’s address and how far it is from us, our email and text message services, and our accounting software. Some of these services are based overseas, mostly in the United States. We don’t contact you automatically when you send an enquiry: one of our team gets back to you.
Measuring our ads: the Meta Pixel
Our enquiry page uses the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), to measure how well our ads work. It uses cookies, and tells Meta when someone opens the page, when an instant price is shown and when an enquiry is sent, so we can see which ads bring enquiries. Like any website request, it also sends Meta technical details such as your internet address, your browser and the page you were on.
We never give Meta your name, phone number, email address, the job’s address or the details of your job. Meta, which is based in the United States, uses what the Pixel collects on our site and elsewhere online to measure ads and to show ads, including ours, to people on Facebook and Instagram, under its own privacy policy.
You can choose how Meta uses this for ads in your Facebook ad preferences, opt out of interest-based ads at aboutads.info, or block cookies in your browser.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your details
Call us on (08) 9258 8800, or come in to 6 Granite Place, Welshpool WA 6106. We’ll tell you what we hold about you, fix anything that’s wrong, and delete your enquiry if you ask. If we’ve already started a quote for you or added you to our customer records, we keep that as our record of the job. What we delete stays in our backups for up to about a month, then it’s gone.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your details, tell us and we’ll put it right. If we can’t, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
